America’s first ice cream shop was located on Dock Street (roughly today’s Pearl Street) in 1774 by British confectioner Philip Lenzi who advertised ice cream of “any sort”, and other treats including sugar plums, jams and sweetmeats.

… The Chinatown Ice Cream Factory (CICF) has made ice cream a tangible and an undeniably delicious reality! CICF has been creating delicious ice cream for almost 4 decades and is often referred to as an “unofficial NYC landmark”. The flavors are inspired by the east: durian, pandan, black sesame, and green tea to name a few…

… The first Haagen-Dazs ice cream shop opened in 1976 at 120 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights. Not a Scandinavian company, Haagen-Dazs in fact was founded in The Bronx by Polish-Jewish confectioners Reuben and Rose Mattus.
