Happy New Membership Year! It’s time to renew your GISMO membership for 2025-2026 (July 1 to June 30). If you have already renewed, thank you!
Your membership and participation matters! We’d like to remind you that we run on a completely volunteer basis by our members and provide significant networking and professional development opportunities. GISMO is an affiliate member of the New York State GIS Association (NYSGISA) and when you join GISMO, you automatically become a member of the state association.
Over the past year, we increased our membership and held several in-person meetings and events which facilitated new partnerships and projects among the community. We’ve established new committees based on your feedback, and member willingness to step up and lead these efforts. As a community, we keep each other informed of events, news and trends in the many sectors of our geospatial field.
Upcoming Events
Our in-person meetings will resume in the fall, which include speaker presentations, news and networking. If you are unable to attend, don’t worry! There’s a Fall Newsletter in the works that aims to share all the highlights, including a dedicated column for GISMOs continued advocacy efforts on promoting geospatial leadership through policy and open standards.
Get Involved
GISMO remains committed to strengthening the geospatial community in NYC, we need your help to keep it going! We encourage you to share your ideas and to join a committee. If you’d like to go one step further, please consider running for a GISMO leadership role. We will be holding elections this Fall, and you need to be a member to run for office (President and eight Board Member positions) and to vote.
Other opportunities to get involved (and earn GISP points) include planning our 35th year Anniversary celebration, joining or leading a GISMO committee, and helping coordinate GISMO @ NYC Open Data Week and other presentations.
